You-tube was briefly visited this evening whereby a thought spasm or two occurred. One was why on earth are certain videos viewed so many times (not including the one attached for I found it entertaining, taking me back to the Blue-Light disco days and laughed my ass off with the lawnmower move for was guilty of performing this one myself (sometimes still do)). Second thought was considering this site is entitled Music’s Place then once in a while (certainly be long gaps between these posts) it is only fair to post some music related material. So enjoy…

Wordpress hacks for personal domains: Akismet anti spam & Blog stats.

Needed to share some basic wordpress findings with others after considering the trials & tribulations of installing 2 basic functions mentioned on title. It took a few forums to figure out how to implement their function.

For those that have visited here before you may notice a few changes to Music’s Place namely the theme along with unseen elements of Blog Stats and Akismet plug-in (after only a week and a bit it has already captured over 600 spam). As much as I don’t have time for spammers I admire their computer prowess. I mean most of us are running powerful systems with the latest defense systems engaged and have trouble deleting a file while you can get someone from a cave in Himalayas with a pedal-powered typewriter connected to some ancient morse-code device via an E.T type phone home system made from the nest of horned puffins bouncing a few satellites where they spam you from an anonymous server in the Netherlands. The breakfast club: Is eating breakfast all it’s cracked up to be?

Though it was a fantastic movie, I talk not of the film but the idea of eating breakfast. We’ve all heard the remark that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, blah blah. After beginning a day with coffee before the morning shave for longer then I care to remember… with exceptions such as when away on holiday or waking up from a night out to go out and eat breakfast which by the time the eating starts cannot be classed as breakfast.

What I’ve set out to do was eat breakfast everyday for the week and observe whether in fact the act of breakfast is all it’s cracked up to be. To all those that partake in the breakfast activity this may be a who cares area for you? That said you will be surprised how many sensible adults skip (more…)

Anybody in the blogging world undoubtedly has heard of text link ads as a medium to generate some extra financial inflow through their respective sites. Text Link Ads (TLA) provides an opportunity to further monetise your site and may be rather fruitful for the webtrepreneur.

After reading about this alternative method for mass wealth generation through text link ads I felt the need to share along with a need to take away attention of the previous inebriated post faux pas. You more then likely have seen a few sites advertise the affiliate portion of the program through various graphical banners:

Is she the one for me?

What an interesting question. A question with an age exceeding that of the pyramids I’m sure. How does one ever know whether the woman chosen is the right one for them? Well it helps if you have that "cloudy headed" feeling for starters. More important is that the woman reciprocates the feeling and just when you think you’re safe here there is more (and no… it’s not a free set of steak knives unless of course they are thrown at you by a disgruntled partner (jinkies I’m a dag)) We all know that the old love vibe is only a bundle of chemicals floating around the mind which in my guess is a natural phenomena propagated by our creator to ensure the survival of our species although it is a wonderful feeling and worth enjoying while it lasts. Who am I to even discuss such an area? No I’m not Dr Phil, Doc Love or Oprah and may have no real authority on the subject, just a (more…)

Google page rank update September 2007?

Hey all… it appears the page rank update which is long overdue is in progress? Well at least for the Asia-Pacific region which encapsulates Australia. The latest iwebtool query had the google toolbar portion as down along with several others which NEVER happens. I think we will all be ranked or de-ranked very soon so to all I bid good luck with the new ranfandangled google algorithmic dance as from personal understanding no-one seems to know for certain how this google song will end.

You’d think by now someone would have leaked insider information on google tactics considering the fact that someone has to know somebody working in google (for goodness sake there had to be a leak during a drunken escapade from google staff?) I normally would not concern myself with such a trivial matter however after reading some of the blogs around it (more…)

The online cash creation frenzy

After the last analytics analysis it has become apparent that a fair chunk of individuals are concerned with creating some cash flow with their respective sites or blogs and why not considering the effort required to maintain these things. There are many wonderful sites and blogs (yes I am an avid reader of more then two) offering useful information for the populous which are as guilty of the let’s generate some cash from peoples clicks syndrome. Not knocking them here for they have spent many hours of thought to create a site well constructed catering to their individual readers (none of that here in Music’s Place for as mentioned earlier I’m only having fun).

That said a decision to provide a mini ever expanding info-base within the following page ONLINE CASH $$$ was an inevitable evolution considering the results of the last analytics appraisal. Was my father right?

Tomorrow is a special day here in Australia for us fathers. The first Sunday of every September here in OZ is Father’s Day where we all gather and watch our respective paternalisms pretend to be impressed with their 40th pair of socks. By the way, anybody know the reasoning to such poor present selection when buying for fathers? Why a post on fathering? Perhaps an inference by the 15 million commercials or perhaps when considering what colour socks the old man would like Truthfully the urge to write stemmed from this quote below. A quote striking significant accord.

By the time a man realizes that maybe his father was right, he usually has a son who thinks he’s wrong.
